Who we are
UKAgencies.co.uk is a directory of UK digital marketing agencies, run by Joe Hughes as a sole trader. Joe is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
For anything about your data, email hello@ukagencies.co.uk.
What we collect and why
Quote requests. When you request a quote from an agency we collect your name, email address, and optionally your company, phone number, the service, budget and timeline you choose, and your message. We send these to that agency so they can reply to you, and keep a copy so we can pass on requests that can't be delivered and stop the form being misused. The agency is then responsible for how it uses your details. We also note your IP address to limit abuse.
Contact form. Your name, email address, subject and message, so we can reply.
Listing submissions, claims and accounts. If you submit or claim an agency, we collect the agency details you give us and your email address. Accounts use Amazon Cognito, which stores your email address and a securely hashed password. If a listing owner invites a colleague, we store the invited email address.
Featured listing payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card details; we receive a customer reference and whether your subscription is active.
Emails to our addresses. Emails sent to any ukagencies.co.uk address are stored and forwarded to our inbox.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, in aggregate only. Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. We also count views of each agency profile and clicks on its contact links, which agencies see as totals; your IP address is used only momentarily to stop repeat counting and is not stored. You can switch analytics off at any time (see Cookies and similar technologies).
Server logs. Our hosting records requests to our systems, which can include IP addresses and form details, to keep the service secure and fix problems.
Agency listings. Listings are built from public sources, such as agencies' own websites and Companies House, and from details agencies send us. Some listings include business contact details for named people. If you appear in a listing and want something changed or removed, email us or claim the listing.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a useful directory and responding to the people who use it, or, for accounts and payments, providing the service you asked for. We don't sell personal data.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the site. They process data on our behalf:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, database, sign-in, and sending and receiving email, in its London region.
- Google: Google Analytics.
- Stripe: Featured listing payments.
Quote requests go to the agency you contact. Google and Stripe may process data outside the UK, with the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
How long we keep it
- Agency listings: while the listing is live.
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete yours.
- Emails sent to us, including copies of quote requests and contact messages: until we delete them.
- Server logs: 90 days.
- Google Analytics data: no longer than 14 months.
- Payment records: as long as the law requires for tax purposes.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email hello@ukagencies.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if how we handle data changes, and change the date at the top. See also our contact page.
