How Much Does a Rebrand Cost in the UK? (2026 Guide)

Rebranding quotes vary more wildly than almost any other marketing service, because the word covers everything from a tidied-up logo to a complete repositioning of the business. This guide sets out what you get in each price band, what drives the number, and the implementation costs that catch people out after the design is signed off.

The Price Bands

  • Logo refresh (£1,500 - £5,000): the existing identity modernised. Updated logo files, a tightened colour palette and type choices, basic usage guidance. Suitable when the brand works and simply looks dated.
  • Visual identity (£5,000 - £15,000): a new logo built from a proper discovery process, full palette and typography system, imagery direction, and a brand guidelines document. The most common purchase for an established SME.
  • Brand strategy and identity (£15,000 - £50,000): adds the thinking that should come first: market and customer research, positioning, messaging framework, tone of voice, naming if required, then the visual system built to express it.
  • Full rebrand programme (£50,000 - £250,000+): multi-market or multi-brand organisations, extensive research, stakeholder work, naming and trademark clearance, and a rollout plan across every touchpoint.

Freelancers and small studios sit at the lower end of each band, established branding agencies at the upper end. The gap is mostly research depth and the seniority of the people doing the strategic work.

What Drives the Cost

  • Research: customer interviews, competitor audits and market research can add £5,000 to £20,000, and are the difference between a brand that is defensible and one that is a matter of taste
  • Naming: a genuine naming exercise with trademark and domain screening rarely costs less than £10,000, and legal clearance is extra
  • Number of applications: a logo is cheap; designing it working across packaging, vehicle livery, uniforms, signage, app icons and social templates is where the hours go
  • Stakeholders: every additional decision-maker adds rounds, and rounds are the single most reliable cause of overruns

The Costs People Forget

Design is often less than half the total spend. Budget for implementation from the start:

  • Website: a rebrand usually forces a redesign, from £4,000 for a small site to £25,000+ for a larger one. See our UK website cost guide.
  • Print and packaging: reprinting stationery, brochures, packaging and point-of-sale materials
  • Signage and vehicles: premises signage and fleet livery can run to thousands per site or vehicle
  • Digital estate: email templates, social profiles, ad creative, presentation decks, product UI
  • Legal: trademark registration, where UK application fees start at a few hundred pounds for a single class, plus solicitor costs if you use one
  • Launch communication: telling customers, staff and press, which is a marketing project in its own right

A useful planning rule: whatever the design costs, assume a similar amount again for rollout unless you have checked otherwise.

Is a Rebrand the Right Spend?

Good reasons: the business has changed and the brand no longer describes it, a merger or acquisition, a move upmarket where the current identity undermines pricing, legal or trademark pressure, or a name that limits where you can expand.

Weak reasons: the leadership team is bored of the logo, or sales are down. Rebranding does not fix a demand problem, and it resets whatever brand recognition you have already paid for. If the underlying issue is that not enough people know you exist, the same budget spent on search, paid media or PR will do more.

Getting Comparable Quotes

Rebrand quotes are hard to compare because agencies scope them differently. Write one brief and send it unchanged to everyone, specifying deliverables, the number of review rounds included, who owns the working files, and whether guidelines are included. Our marketing brief guide has a template that adapts to brand work.
